First Valentine

No Cards today, just a story about our (devin and I) first valentine. So in keeping with the month of Love theme. Today, I going to reflex on Valentines day No 1. Okay, a little history first. Devin and I were friends since I got to Camp Pendleton, CA. When he found out I was from Trinidad, he started calling me Trini and everyone picked it up. We were cool, he used to come knock on my door and bother the crap out of me or invite me to watch movies with him and friends or whatever. He was the guy friend that could be your brother, if you had one. So there was no love sparks flying anyway. I remember, it all started a couple days before Valentines day. I was asking him, jokingly, if he was getting me something for valentines and he said No, he had better things to do (yeah, I married this guy). Well, on the day of, we was chilling in my room with the rest of the usual crew, none of us had a “valentine” so we just decided to hang out with each other. When Devin was leaving, he told me he had something for me. I was like “whatever”. So he left, went to his room and came back with this teddy bear in his hand. Looking rather shy, he just handed to me and said “Happy Valentines” and then walked out of the door. I was shocked, not because of the bear but because I was actually blushing. Of course I had to play it off when my roommates started getting at me about the bear and all. So what happened next, while, 12 days later on February 26 2001, Devin and I started to date officially, according to him. Apparently the guy had a serious crush on me all the time and his friends were preventing him from talking to me because they said he wasn’t my type. The Purple bear with a rose sits on our guest bed, the ribbon is aging with the length of our relationship. Devin says he picked the purple bear because he read somewhere that purple is the sign for royalty and he sees me as such, in his mind I deserve to be treated as such also. (How cute is that) One day I’ll do a lo about this story but for right now I’ll just write it down and smile because I really can’t believe this little thing really started it all for US.
